Cruz shines with two homers on doubleheader against Tigers
Houston.– The veteran Dominican slugger Nelson Cruz excelled in his offensive work and contributed two homers in the same number of games of a doubleheader for his team of the Minnesota Twins.
Venezuelan designated hitter Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer and the Detroit Tigers defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-2 in the second game of a doubleheader.
Cabrera (5) kicked the ball out of the field in the fifth against relief pitches Tyler Duffey, with a running back on board, with one out in the inning.
The Venezuelan, who went 3-2 and finished with two RBIs, hit the register on two other occasions.
Cruz (13) sent the ball to the street in the fourth inning, against the pitches of Tarik Skubal, for his second home run of the night.
In Game 1, Cruz also sent the ball out of bounds in the sixth inning on left-hander Matthew Boyd’s pitches, but the Twins also lost 2-8 to the Tigers.
Venezuelan ranger Víctor Reyes was perfect with the bat in the Tigres win by going 4-for-4 and scoring a run.
