Ana Tima one step closer to Tokyo after performance in Ecuador
Dominican athlete Ana Lucía Tima, in the triple jump, and David Hurtado, in the 10-kilometer walk, succeeded at the International Athletics Grand Prix in Ecuador, a qualifying step for the Tokyo Olympics.
Tima achieved a distance of 14.20 that was worth being among the top ten in the ranking, which places her practically in the Tokyo Olympics.
The Dominican beat Ecuadorians Linda González and Judith Rivera, while the Ecuadorian hope to go to the Olympics, Liuba Zaldívar reached 13.21.
Hurtado marched the 10 kilometers in 38 minutes and 44 seconds and broke the mark set by the double Ecuadorian Olympic medalist, Jefferson Pérez (gold in Atlanta’96 and silver in Beijing 2008) which was 39:50.
In the second and third place of the test completed this Sunday in the renovated athletic track of the ‘Alberto Spencer’ stadium, in Guayaquil, the Ecuadorians also arrived Brian Daniel Pintado (39:08), who is already classified for Tokyo 2021, and Jordy Jimenez (39:35).
In ladies, the Ecuadorian Paola Pérez, classified for Tokyo, with the minimum mark in the 20 kilometers, reached today the first place of the 10 kilometers with a time of 44:51, followed by her compatriots Magaly Bonilla, also classified to Tokyo, with 45:50 and Maritza Guamán with 46:22.
In the men’s triple jump, the Colombian Geiner Moreno obtained first place with 15.98, followed by the Ecuadorian Frixon Chila with 15.77, and third they also local Steven Palacios (15.48).
Ecuadorians Steven Ortiz stood out in the launch of the disc, with first place with a distance of 46.32. Second, Washington Valencia (41.79) and Adrián Valencia (41.36).
In the javelin throw, the Ecuadorian José Escobar won, with a distance of 69.35, followed by his compatriots Jean Marco Mairongo (68.99) and William Torres (64.00).
Athletes from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador participated in the International Grand Prix and Ecuadorian Championship, called ‘Richard Boroto’.
