DR and UK agree to strengthen fight against drug trafficking
The Dominican Republic through the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Home Office of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, signed a cooperation agreement to pursue and combat drug trafficking, money laundering and its related crimes.
The agreement was signed by the president of the DNCD, Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, and David Pennant, Director of the Home Office, who ratified their commitment to face common threats together and with determination.
Present at the event were Graham Jessup, Deputy Head of Mission and Her Majesty’s Consul (representing the British Embassy in the country); as well as Nicholas Fowler, Deputy Director Home Office International.
This alliance seeks to expand and execute new strategies and exchange of information, which allow consolidating efforts in the fight against organized transnational crime and international drug trafficking.
Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa assured that this joint effort marks a new stage in the bilateral relations of the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom.
The DNCD continues to strengthen and expand its relations with other countries and counterpart organizations, which strengthens the authorities’ capacity to act at the national and international levels.
