Vice President says second anticovid-19 dose is progressing
The Vice President of the Republic and coordinator of the Health Cabinet, Raquel Peña, assured this day that the application of the second dose of the covid-19 vaccine is progressing successfully in the Greater Santo Domingo and in the different provinces of the country.
While touring various vaccination centers in the National District and Santo Domingo Este, within the framework of the National Plan “Vacunate RD”, Peña said that the Government headed by President Luis Abinader will not stop until the entire population is inoculated and defeats the pandemic.
“The vaccination process is moving steadily, we will not stop until we win the battle against COVID-19 together; I reiterate the call to our fellow citizens to come to receive their second dose on the date indicated on their vaccination cards”, said the Vice President.
Peña recalled that the vaccination points will be open to the population during the Easter holiday, in order to guarantee that Dominicans can be vaccinated with their second dose in the time that corresponds to them.
Likewise, the official called on the population to respect the sanitary measures established by the authorities, emphasizing the care during Holy Week.
“Vaccination will be effective if it is accompanied by the correct use of the mask, distancing, and handwashing”, she said.
The official began the descent of supervision of centers in the Multicentro La Sirena, where around 300 people were receiving their second doses of the vaccine.
Here she thanked Mrs. Mercedes Ramos, executive president of Grupo Ramos, for her collaboration in the development of the vaccination program.
“The private sector has been key in the development of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19: Only united we will defeat this pandemic”, said Raquel Peña.
Then, she went to the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) and the Los Billeteros Club, where she verified both the progress in the application of the second dose of the plan, as well as the inoculation of teaching personnel scheduled by the Ministry of Education.
Finally, Raquel Peña supervised the application of the vaccine to the health personnel of the Primary Care Center of the Vietnam sector in Santo Domingo Este, where she thanked the health workers for the struggle and dedication they have carried out during the pandemic.
To date, more than 850,000 covid vaccines have been applied in the Dominican Republic; It is expected to increase the number of daily vaccinated as the people who received their first doses, the date of application of the second arrives.
