PRM complies with Abinader’s request for shutting down reelection talks

The Administrative Minister of the Presidency and president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), José Ignacio Paliza, said that the issue of reelection is not under discussion in that organization.
“In the PRM there is are no talks of reelection, it is an issue that has been generated, above all, in the national debate, but that in a certain way has no real support”.
He said that this is not the right time to talk about politics. “This is an issue from politics that is not appropriate today because it divides us when this is a moment of national unity to move the country forward”.
Paliza said that they are focused on managing the government and getting the country out of the crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are very focused on governing, on getting the country out of the pandemic, on reactivating the economy, on generating jobs, all the focus, and energy of the president and of the comrades of the party that accompany them are focused on that issue”.
Also, the official emphasized that the President has raised his position on the issue of reelection and has invited the party to reflect so that they are not distracted by issues that he considers inappropriate for the moment.
“President Luis Abinader, always attending to being a president who listens, a political leader who listens, has wanted very clearly established, forcefully expressed his position on this issue and has asked, he has invited the comrades of the party to think about it. let’s not get distracted by debates that are appropriate for us today. ”
The minister pointed out that “this is a time for the country to unite on the sidelines of politics and that together we can move the country forward.”
Earlier this week President Luis Abinader sent a communication to Paliza, where he formally requested that he instructs the other members of the PRM not to comment on his possible presidential re-election.
