President Luis Abinader issued a decree which declared January 2nd, 2023 as nonworking nationwide.
The Executive’s provision is contained in decree 773-22, which explains that the suspension of work activities includes the public and private sectors.
“That the traditional festivities of January 1 coincide in 2023 with Sunday, so that if Monday, January 2nd were left enabled for the incorporation into work, the full family enjoyment of the well-deserved New Year’s holiday would be prevented and it would generate congestion on the main roads of the country, which could represent risks for people and goods,” reads one of the recitals of the aforementioned decree.
The Executive Power instructs the Ministries of Labor and Public Administration to execute the application of the decree signed by President Luis Abinader.
