Katmandu Park comes to Punta Cana

Starting in the fall of 2022, the tourist destination of Punta Cana will have a new offer for visitors to this paradisiacal area of the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, with the opening of the latest generation theme park Katmandu Park.
As part of the expansion plans of the companies Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond Global, the investment in the project reaches 170 million dollars, which also includes the construction of two new hotels, and the renovation of others, with an global investment that exceeds 350 million dollars.
The plans to carry out the works were announced on November 18th by President Luis Abinader, during a ceremony with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado and the CEO of Falcon’s Beyond Global, Cecil D. Magpuri; the Executive Vice President of Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer; the COO of Meliá Hotels International, André P. Gerondeau, and the Executive President of Falcon’s Beyond Global, Scott Demereau.
When highlighting the importance of the project for the Dominican economy, the president cited that the Katmandu Park will generate some 600 direct jobs with a projection of doubling this figure in indirect jobs.
Also, the Meliá Hotel International company expects to substantially complete the renovation of the existing hotels by the end of 2023.
“The Kathmandu experience includes attractions such as the world’s first ‘suspended theater’ and adventures with which guests and visitors will immerse themselves in the universe of Kathmandu, providing a novelty in the entertainment offering in the Dominican Republic”, as reported Falcon’s Beyond Global CEO Cecil D. Magpuri.
