Rafael Devers pushed three hits on a night where Nathan Eovaldi allowed just five hits in seven innings, giving the Boston Red Sox the win against the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 on Thursday night, suffering their fifth straight loss, their worst streak of the season.

Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland each hit home runs for Boston, which posted its second straight win, following a nine-trip run. Although the Red Sox are 10 games below the .500 mark, in the basement of the AL East, Seattle is now the worst team on the Young Circuit.

Bogaerts hit a solo home run in the third inning and added a single in the ninth before Moreland disappeared the ball with two onboard off Miguel Castro.

Pat Valaika hit a home run for the Orioles, who fell below the .500 mark (12-13), something that had not happened to them in nearly two weeks.

Eovaldi (2-2) had been terrifying against the Yankees, accepting eight earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. But in his longest outing since August 4, 2018, he looked dominant.

The right-hander struck out six, walked one, and allowed just one other extra-base, Valaika’s home run in the opening of the seventh.

For the Red Sox, Mexican Alex Verdugo 4-1 with one run scored and one produced. The Dominican Rafael Devers 5-2. The Puerto Rican Cristian Vázquez 5-2 with a run scored. Venezuelan José Peraza 4-1 with an RBI.

For the Orioles, the Dominicans Hanser Alberto 4-1, Pedro Severino 4-0. Venezuelans Anthony Santander 4-1, Renato Nunez 4-1. The Mexican Ramón Urías 1-0.
