Wascar Cruz becomes the first Dominican mixed martial arts world champion

Wascar “La Avispa” Cruz became the first Dominican to be crowned world champion in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) this Friday night by defeating American Christian Ynastrilla for the flyweight title (125 pounds) by knockout. Titan FC 63.
The 36-year-old ended the fight in the third round of the fight. He improved to 7-1, while Ynastrilla fell to 10-7.
He has a strong kickboxing base and stands out for his striking (hitting) and has reached the blue belt in Brazilian jiujitsu.
The brawl was held behind closed doors to the public at the Intercontinental Hotel & Resort Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida, United States, under strict sanitary security measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 between fighters and the promoter’s staff.
Lawyer and promoter Rodolfo Dahuajre, president of the Fighting Force company, represents Cruz.
According to the Tapology.com portal “La Avispa”, is ranked number 8 of the fighters of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA in English), active in Florida, number 25 in all Latin America, 10 in the southeastern United States and 60 of 396 flyweight fighters in the entire American Union.
The fight was the co-feature between heavyweights Mohammed Usman and Terrance Hodges, broadcast exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
Wascar is the second Dominican that seeks the belt, after Reynaldo “El Mulito” de los Santos fell by submission (armbar), before the former monarch Juan Puerta, on October 19th, 2019, in version 57 of the aforementioned company, along with Fighting Force chaired by Rodolfo Dauhajre.
