Juan Luis Guerra adapts new single to rock music
Dominican artist Juan Luis Guerra adapted his song “Cantando Bachata” (Singing Bachata) to rock, a song available from April 16th on all digital platforms and whose original version is included in the 2016 album “Literal”.
The singer’s spokesman, Severo Rivera, reported through a press release, about the presentation of the most recent single by the musician, singer, songwriter, and producer: Cantando Bachata – Rock Version.
Guerra, known worldwide for representing merengue and bachata for the last 30 years, shows in this work “a refreshed vision” and adapted to the rhythm of rock, “with hints of Caribbean fusions”.
Singing Bachata – Rock Version tells the skills of a Dominican migrant, who moves from the beaches of Punta Cana to the streets of the Bronx, a neighborhood known in New York, United States, for receiving a large colony of Dominicans.
On this occasion, the composer of Bachata Rosa, “moves away from the big band format, to explore a small and energetic ensemble” and, for this, the Dominican musicians Hellen de La Rosa (drums) and David Vásquez ( bass), produced by Juan Luis Guerra himself.
“The song ‘Cantando Bachata’ has a curious story. It was originally born in rock music format. We had saved it with affection because we understood that it was not its moment, turning it into bachata for our album ‘Literal’ and we liked it in its tropical format”, said the artist.
Now, “we want to share this version with our family of fans and we hope they enjoy hearing it, as much as we enjoy doing it”, added the singer.
Juan Luis Guerra, 63, is considered the most international Dominican artist, and during his almost four decades in music he has won, among others, 3 Grammys and more than 20 Latin Grammys.
