Daddy Yankee: Don Omar was never my competition

“Don Omar was never my competition. My closest competition was Wisin y Yandel. People never saw my real competition. Although obviously our competition has always been healthy”, said urban exponent Daddy Yankee.

The Puerto Rican spoke for the first time about the recent statements by Don Omar, who accused the interpreter of Gasolina and Raphy Pina, of having conspired against him during the 2015 ‘The Kingdom’ tour.

”I wish him well. I have always spoken well of him. I recently saw and listened to his interviews, and I was outraged, because he obviously lied, and the evidence is there. I said ‘Wow’! Why he does it, the evidence that he brought up the issues, and that he left the show is evidence that is there”, Yankee declared.

During an interview given to Santiago Matías in ‘Alofoke Sin Censura’ he continued saying: ”I said that you have to wish him the best, and wishing him the best is to tell him the truth; there are no excuses or justifications for a person’s failure. You have to look for a self-reflection in yourself and not look for a guilty party.

The Puerto Rican argued that when Don Omar referred to the issue of the console, Yankee said that if it had been true, he does not understand how his colleague did not act as a man against him, and that simply leaving and already showing that it is a false story, that includes the alleged purchase of covers in the Puerto Rican newspapers after the first presentation of the tour that had both.

On that same topic, Daddy Yankee continued by saying: “It is unfortunate that until the last breath of him that he has left in life, he will try to justify that he did not give up and quit. That hurts. He is looking for a false motivation to motivate himself.

The interpreter of the hit “Con Calma” assures that with discipline, complying with the fans, being responsible with the shows or tours and the contracts, in addition to working to fix personal problems, success and permanence can be achieved in this race.

Yankee took advantage of the interview to dismantle a myth among singers or interpreters, assuring that it is a lie when they say that an artist has the power to put his foot in another artist. ” Simply when an artist tries to play the victim, he is making a public statement of defeat. There is no one who can with you or hurt you if you are disciplined. But if you seek people’s approval through the victim role, you’re going to lose.

Reasons for retiring

”I feel like I’m fulfilled. I found new purposes in my life. I can’t reveal them now. Life itself is taking you. I feel that I lived a quite accelerated cycle of my life. I understood that the most important thing that a human being can discover in his life is the purpose for which he came to earth, and I know that my purposes are greater than music,” he commented.

He assures that at this stage of his life he will learn many things. He will discover new stages, new knowledge, he wants to continue studying.
