Lisandro Macarrulla resigns from the Ministry of the Presidency

Approximately one month after requesting a license from his duties, Lisandro Macarrulla formally resigned from his position as Minister of the Presidency, through a statement addressed to President Luis Abinader.
According to the statement posted by Macarrulla himself, and released by the Presidency, that had been the agreement he had reached with the President when he took office on August 16, 2020.
“Completing the next 16th of the current month, two years of his presidential mandate, period of time in which I promised to accompany him in the exercise of his functions as president of the Republic, voluntarily and in accordance with what was agreed at the beginning of his term. management, I present the resignation effectively on that date, to my position as Minister of the Presidency”, says the statement posted on his Instagram account.
Through it, Macarrulla indicates that on April 22 he requested an audit of the first period of his management from the Chamber of Accounts, and that likewise, in October 2021, the Comptroller General of the Republic initiated an internal audit of the Ministry of the Presidency.

He also establishes that in December 2021 he requested the hiring of a legal and financial audit of his management, a process that was awarded and marked with the reference “MINPRE-CCC-CP-2021-0012”.
“It should be noted that all these processes were required in accordance with the best transparency practices, exposing the ethical and moral reality of public management to society,” says the former official.
The entire Macarrulla situation occurs weeks after his eldest son was charged, along with 41 other people, for his alleged involvement in the Medusa corruption case.
Lisandro José Macarrulla, son of the Minister of the Presidency, is one of the 42 defendants for his alleged participation in the Medusa case, where the main person involved is the former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez.
The son of the current official is linked to the construction of the Las Parras or Nueva Victoria prison during the administration of Jean Alain Rodríguez, through the MAC company.
It is recalled that since mid-July, Joel Santos occupies the Ministry of the Presidency on an “interim basis”.
In the statement, Macarrulla thanks Abinader for having given him the “opportunity to serve” the country, in addition to the fact that he performed his functions “with transparency.”
