Ministry of Public Health cancels artistic events nationwide
The Ministry of Public Health announced the cancellation of all artistic activities due to the sanitary conditions in the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The information is contained in a letter from the institution sent to the owners of the entertainment centers and the promoters of events, in which it says that the cancellation of the activities is until further notice.
“We inform you that the Ministry of Public Health, taking into account the specific conditions in which the COVID-19 pandemic is currently in the country, has made the decision to not to authorize artistic activities of any kind, until further notice”, says the letter, signed by the director of risk management, Gina Estrella Ramia.
The document indicates that Public Health is committed to guaranteeing the health of the Dominican people, although it understands the need to maintain the productivity and recreation that people need.
Public Health said that despite this, it will not allow flexibility in compliance with these regulations, which “must be followed exactly, precisely and without excuses.”
According to the document, the authorities take this decision to avoid other more drastic and severe ones in the future, because the relaxation or hardening of the measures will depend on the behavior of the artistic sector and the population.
Public Health also said that the entertainment centers will only be able to house 40% of their capacity.
