Dominican Republic attracts new investments in sustainable technology
The Dominican Republic continues to be one of the attractive countries for investment in technologies applied to the development and performance of photovoltaic plants, that help expand the generation matrix and create more and better solutions for citizens.
This was stated by the director of Solar Energy & Storage Latin America Multi-Country at Huawei Digital Power, Juan Rodríguez Benavides.
Rodríguez explained that the technology company offers cutting-edge intelligent photovoltaic solutions, by integrating Cloud and Artificial Intelligence to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), for optimal energy generation, thus laying the foundations to convert solar energy into electricity as the main source of power.
The executive noted that by improving the use of solar energy, Huawei is helping to power millions of homes and hundreds of industries around the world and will continue to innovate and enhance renewable energy to reach more individuals, homes and organizations.
A team from the technology expert company participated in the third edition of the Energyear Caribe 2022 congress, in the panel “New technologies applied to the development and performance of photovoltaic plants”, with the purpose of continuing to promote the digitalization of the energy sector and collaborate with industries in achieving carbon neutrality.

On this occasion, Energyear Caribe 2022 was held in the Dominican Republic, where more than 60 expert speakers gathered in 12 panels and presentations, with the purpose of continuing to act as an accelerator for the development of clean energy in the region.
The Dominican Republic is working to fulfill its commitment to sustainable development, to integrate 25% of renewable sources into the matrix of the national electricity system by 2025.
In addition, to achieve at least 30% of the matrix from sources considered clean due to their zero emission of greenhouse gases.
This third edition of the congress was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; the Vice Minister of Governmental Energy Savings, Alfonso Rodríguez; the executive director of the National Energy Commission, Edward Veras; and the superintendent of electricity, Andrés Astacio, among other key players in the sector.
