Boris Johnson receives notice of Truss resignation while in the Dominican Republic
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is visiting the Dominican Republic, where he learned of the resignation of Liz Truss from the position he held until September 5.
Johnson arrived to Punta Cana on October 7th, left on the 10th, returned on the 12th and was still in the Dominican Republic this morning.
The British politician arrived with great confidentiality and entered through the Punta Cana International airport, as reported.
Johnson is staying at the Casa de Campo complex.
The information provided to a local source does not give details of the reason for the former British Prime Minister’s visit to the Caribbean country, in addition to how much longer he would be in the nation.
Boris Johnson resigned as British Prime Minister last July after feeling cornered by a series of scandals that engulfed his government.
Ministers and legislators began to resign calling for him to step down from office because of some of his stances that his party did not agreed.
One of these scandals was the case of Deputy Bank Chief Chris Pincher, who allegedly groped two people at a private dinner, an action that Johnson allegedly had knowledge of.
The officials denounced that the former prime minister lacked the integrity to continue in office and began to resign.
However, and after the resignation of Truss, who only lasted 45 days in office, the name of Boris Johnson resurfaces to occupy the role of prime minister again.
The British Conservative Party called for urgent primaries to close his succession next week. Which could indicate that Johnson could leave the Dominican Republic at any time.
