UNWTO announces the Dominican Republic is the guest country for Fitur 2022
The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, reported that the Dominican Republic is confirmed as the guest country for the next edition of the Madrid International Tourism Fair Fitur 2022, in recognition of the work it has done in the process of managing the pandemic and the reopening of the tourism sector.
The information was released during the opening of the Dominican stand on the first day of Fitur 2021, an event attended by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and representatives of banks, hotels, and other tourism allies.
The highest representative of the UNWTO said he had no doubt that the Dominican Republic will remain a leader in the region and an innovator in tourism products.
“Two months ago, I got to know your beautiful country, which is the Dominican Republic, but the most important thing for me is that I already have many Dominican friends. I thought it was impossible to have so many Dominican friends in just two months. It is a pleasure to be here with you”, said Pololikashvili.
He expressed his satisfaction at being part of the reopening of Dominican tourism while stating that it is an honor to have partners like the Dominican Republic. He indicated that the UNWTO and this country have important projects together in favor of the sector.
Pololikashvili recognized the support of the bank for the development of Dominican tourism, especially with the new projects that are in execution.
