Projects in Pedernales hold an investment of 1,000 million dollars
The executive director of the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (Dgapp), Sigmund Freund, revealed that the initial projects to be implemented in Pedernales will have an investment of 1,000 million dollars.
At the conclusion of the commemoration of the first anniversary of Law 47-20, the official declared that initially, local investors will participate in the projects, and at the end of the year, when the Public-Private Partnerships trust is formed, opportunities will open to foreign investors.
“The idea is that everyone who is interested in participating in Pedernales can participate,” Freund specified and pointed out that it will begin by developing the communication routes and service infrastructure and then the airport.
When answering questions to the media, Freund indicated that in the next few days the government will announce the first projects to be carried out in the province of Pedernales under the Pro-Pedernales trust.
Improvements to Law 47-20
The executive director of the Dgapp, Sigmund Freund, said that they have identified possible improvements to Law 47-20 on public-private partnerships so that it can serve more efficiently as a tool that makes the economy viable in these times of pandemic.
The official pointed out that consultations have already been carried out with different sectors, both private and public, and improvements in procedures have been visualized so that projects can start in less time.
Freund explained that this initiative to improve regulations is part of the “Efficient government” proposal, which assumes and defends the management of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and which proposes to simplify procedures and requirements that make processes bureaucratic and tedious.
He specified that this revision of the law will allow reducing procedures and the time of the processes depending on the nature and complexity of the projects. He also pointed out that a good level of consensus has been reached regarding these improvements, which include the review of aspects that create confusion in the interpretation of the regulations and their application regulations.
