Abinader highlights actions to recover tourism during UNWTO meeting
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, to coordinate policies focused on continuing to recover the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.
At the headquarters of the UNWTO, the Dominican head of state thanked the international body for its support in the uplifting of tourism in the Caribbean country.
Likewise, he appreciated their effort in accompanying other countries to design the best policies and bring the confidence that is needed to recover tourism.
“Our true objective is the hundreds of thousands of men and women in the Dominican Republic who earn their living through tourism every day in an honest and dignified manner”, said Abinader.
In addition, he reaffirmed that one of the main responsibilities of the government he leads is to achieve the recovery of tourism and its workers, whose income was cut off by the pandemic.
The president of the Dominican Republic was sided by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro.
Official trip in Spain
Abinader’s agenda includes meetings with former Spanish government presidents Felipe González and José María Aznar.
In addition, a meeting with the committee of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and dinner offered by Dominican personalities living in Spain in honor of the president.
