June projects the highest tourist flow since the pandemic start
June has over 25% in tourist arrivals compared to previous months, as tourism continues to increase in the Dominican Republic and is projected as the one with the highest growth for the sector, as reported by David Collado, Minister of Tourism.
He indicated that “June 2021 will exceed by 5,000% to June 2020, the largest number of tourists arriving in the country come from the United States, and they are already inoculated against Covid-19 by 90%”.
He assured that despite all the difficulties that the pandemic has left in the Dominican Republic, the sector continues to record sustainable growth with a view to its full recovery.
Collado stated that the “responsible recovery” is evidenced in the growth of tourism each month, thanks to the joint efforts of the public and private sectors.
“To date, 200 thousand foreigners have arrived in the Dominican Republic in June. That is, 26% more than those who visited us in the month of May”, said Collado.
He expressed that he firmly believes in the recovery of tourism, noting that “we grew in April, in May and we are up with 26 percent in June. We see a frank sustainable growth of responsible tourism in our country”, he said.
The official expressed in those terms when delivering a speech at the launch of the magazine Dominican Tourism, edited by the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur), at the same time highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the tourism press to achieve the recovery of the industry.
