Senators approve request of a vaccination card and PCR from tourists
The Senate of the Republic approved a resolution that asks the Ministry of Public Health to urge the airport and port authorities to request the vaccination card and the negative result of a PCR test to enter Dominican territory from non-resident visitors in the Dominican Republic. .
The initiative was proposed by Senator Aris Yván Lorenzo from the Elías Piña province.
The fifth recital of the resolution establishes that despite the high level of contagion of the omicron variant, “the health authorities have not established requirements so that non-resident visitors in the country are required to have a vaccination card and PCR test ”.
Another recital indicates as a discriminatory action and in violation of the principle of equality enshrined in the Dominican Constitution, that Dominican residents are required to circulate with a vaccination card or PCR test with a negative result, while visitors are not required to have any of these requirements to enter the Dominican territory.
“We request the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance that by means of a resolution, urge the airport and port authorities to apply the measures of requesting non-resident visitors in the Dominican Republic the vaccination card and PCR / Covid-19 negative test to enter the Dominican territory”, the approved resolution establishes.
