Tropical storm Laura leaves more than a million Dominicans without electricity

The electrical service of more than 1,100,000 users has been affected and interrupted by the winds and rains of Storm Laura.

According to reports, at least 239 electrical circuits across the country have been damaged by the effects of Tropical Storm Laura.

One of the power companies (Edesur) reports indicates that 485,962 users have been affected by the breakdowns of 122 circuits. The report indicates that more than 300 brigades are working to solve and restore the electricity supply in the shortest possible time.

While Edeeste, another main power company, reported more than 578,000 customers without electricity, with the output of more than 103 circuits.

“From the early hours of today, our technical teams assess the damage to reestablish service in the shortest possible time, and as weather conditions allow us,” reports Edeeste.

In Edenorte, at least 14 circuits are out of service, a situation that affects more than 90,000 electricity users.
