Dominican president warns officials to submit an affidavit of assets by September 15th
Santo Domingo. – The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, warned that public officials that they must submit their sworn declaration of their assets, under penalty of being suspended from their functions and subsequently canceled.
Abinader said that the deadline expires on September 15th and if they do not carry it out, they will be suspended from their duties.
They have an additional three weeks to comply. If not, they will be immediately removed from office.
“The affidavit of assets must be delivered on September 15. It will be suspended and if in three weeks after September 15th, it does not deliver the affidavit of assets, it will be destitute”, he said.
The president spoke during the press conference in which the General Directorate of Government Ethics and Integrity and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, announced the start of audits in all State institutions while reminding public officials of the duties and prohibitions to which they are subject.
Comptroller General Luis Delgado, stated that based on Article 8 of Law 10-07, the management of the past government in all public institutions will be audited, “because it is necessary to know what the current authorities have received”.
He added that all specialized personnel from the institution will be used to carry out the audits, as well as private firms, which will be hired by tender.
On her side, the Director of Government Ethics and Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, announced the issuance of a circular with the purpose of guiding the conduct of public servants.
In this regard, President Abinader warned that public officials are strictly prohibited from accepting gifts, whether in cash or of any other nature.
