Churches reopened after government’s new decree
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, issued a new decree ordering the reopening of churches and other religious activities, which had been prohibited on December 30th via decree number 740-20.
This measure is contained within executive order 2-21, which repealed article 10 of the aforementioned document.
Likewise, religious ceremonies will be allowed to take place up to three times a week, as long as they comply with the curfew schedule and the sanitary protocols imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“The opening and celebration of activities of the different churches and other religious denominations are allowed, which may take place three times a week, keeping the established hours for the curfew and abiding by the general and sectoral protocols in force against COVlD-19 ”, as per the document.
