Government now vaccinates only those who require the second dose
The Health Cabinet, headed by Vice President Raquel Peña, reported that thanks to the positive response from the population and the efficient execution of VacúnateRD staff, 5,656,548 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 have been applied.
For this reason, and to give priority to those who should receive their second dose in the next few days, as of June 10th only second doses will continue to be applied.
The vice president congratulated all the Dominican people for their enthusiastic participation since the beginning of the National Vaccination Plan, all the health personnel, and the hundreds of volunteers who are cooperating to meet the objective set since last February, and assured that the second Doses are guaranteed for those who require them.
“We have achieved a lot so far, we were able to complete in record time the administration of the first scheduled doses for the first 11 batches of vaccines, taking the inoculation to the entire Dominican population over 18 years of age and reserving the necessary doses for the application of the second one”, explained the vice president.
Fulfilling the promise to guarantee the population the antivirals of the second doses when the corresponding period is fulfilled, VacúnateRD, as of Thursday, June 10th, will be applying doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 only to those who have already received the first dose of them, while the country prepares to receive more shipments from pharmaceutical houses with which the Dominican government has signed contracts.
Those who received the Sinovac formula must wait 28 days between doses, while those vaccinated with the first doses of AstraZeneca must wait between 8 and 12 weeks, after the first injection.
The authorities urge you to go with your vaccination cards to receive your second dose in the same center where the first was placed, and they assure that the country has the reserves for it.
They also made a call to maintain preventive measures, such as the correct use of the mask, physical distancing and frequent hand washing, as well as compliance with the measures provided in Decree 364-21, promulgated last Tuesday 8 June of the current year.
