JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes: the Dominican Republic is a safe destination
The CEO of JetBlue Airlines, Robin Hayes, described the Dominican Republic as a safe destination in a meeting he held with president Danilo Medina.
Hayes reassured on Tuesday JetBlue’s commitment to continue strengthening a quality air transportation to and from the Dominican Republic while ratifying its willingness to continue the collaboration on tourism with the country.
The top executive of the North American airline with the largest number of operations in the country, described the country as a safe destination, according to a report from Diario Libre signed by Tomas Ventura.

President Medina tagged along Miguel Vargas Maldonado, minister of Foreign Affairs; Francisco Javier Garcia, of Tourism; the general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, (IDAC), Alejandro Herrera, and the president of the Civil Aviation Joint, Luis Ernesto Camilo.
According to the data showed at the meeting, JetBlue has transported six and a half million passengers to and from the Dominican Republic during the last three years.
In that sense, it is one of the leading airlines used by thousands of American tourists to come to vacation in the country, and for Dominican residents and visitors to travel to different cities in the United States.
“The conversation between the CEO of Jet Blue, Mr. Robin Hayes, and President Danilo Medina is a confirmation of the support offered to the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic,” Alejandro Herrera told journalists who approached him.
The director of the IDAC explained that in 2017, Jet Blue transported 2,414,924 passengers to and from the various Dominican airports, while in 2018 it mobilized 2,706,389 passengers, and so far this year the airline has brought and brought 1,449,005 people, Dominicans, and foreigners.
The official of the civil and commercial aviation sector of the country highlighted that in the first five months of 2019 Jet Blue increased its operations by 22% and passenger transportation has increased by 17%.
