Expedia: there is no deceleration in bookings to the Dominican Republic
The vice president of the Expedia Group for Latin America and the Caribbean, Freddy Dominguez, assured that there has not been a deceleration in bookings to travel to the Dominican Republic.
“People are booking to the Dominican Republic with an average of 27 days in advance, which is quite healthy and stay close to three days,” he said.
In an executive interview published by Listin Diario, Dominguez said that through Expedia, which brings more than 20% of American tourists to the Caribbean, no complaints about safety have been reported.
The travel expert said that tourists are getting their tickets way ahead of time so they can ensure their vacation to the Caribbean country and that there has not been any deceleration to this market.
Dominguez explained that from Expedia they will continue to support the country as a destination for foreigners because of their diverse offer.
They labeled as a media event the information about the safety of the Dominican Republic as a tourist destination.

On June 28th, the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier Garcia, denied that there have been massive cancellations of reservations for tourists who plan to enjoy their vacations on the island.
“To say that 74 tourists out of every hundred who were going to visit the Dominican Republic decided not to do it these days is an absurdity, a lie that no one believes,” he told reporters after a meeting with businessmen and tour operators in the Big Apple.
These statements come after ForwardKeys published and claimed that from the 1st to the 19th June, bookings for July and August from the USA to the Dominican Republic have fallen by 74.3% compared to the same period in 2018.
