DR registers its highest air passenger flow in 11 months
The Dominican Republic registered in March an outstanding 630,941 domestic and foreign travelers in more than 7 thousand commercial flight operations, according to data provided by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
Likewise, the regulatory body of commercial aviation in the country indicated that last February the country registered 448,633 passengers in a total of 5,827 commercial flights.
The president of the JAC, José Marte Piantini, highlighted that after a year of the pandemic, the Dominican Republic had the best numbers in air operations in and out of passengers through airports.
Marte Piantini said that during the mentioned month 630,941 passengers were transported, 327,775 on incoming flights and 303,166 on outgoing flights, the highest number of passenger traffic in the country in the last eleven months.
The official also assured that the constant increase during the last three months of this year in air operations is the result of a set of measures adopted by the central government to strengthen health protocols.
“The country has registered record numbers in the increase of passengers transported, consolidating itself as a tourist destination in the region and gradually and gradually resuming air transport”, added the president of the JAC.
He specified that air operations to and from the Dominican Republic are not only growing, but are constantly recovering.
Although the 7,148 inbound and outbound flight operations carried out during March 2021 represent a fall of less than 16% in relation to that month in 2020, this is the best figure and the lowest level of decrease recorded by air operations in the country since the reopening in July 2020.
