Dominican President Luis Abinader led the celebration of the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference & Operations Summit (CHICOS) and the presentation of the Punta Bergantín Project, where he assured that with the latter they seek to convert the Dominican Republic as a destination preferred for tourism linked to the international film industry.

The president stressed that the Dominican Republic plays a crucial role in the tourism market, placing itself at the head of all countries worldwide, leading the recovery, investment and flow of tourists.

He expressed that he has assumed the role that corresponds to him at this time, also putting to work all the machinery of the State in favor of this business sector, so that they know that at all times they can count on the support of the Dominican Government.

“My commitment to you is total. And that is how I want you to feel it. The alliance between our sectors goes beyond what can be a circumstantial strategy. It is a true commitment to the country, to its economic and social development, to the creation of employment and the strengthening of other productive sectors,” he assured.

When participating in the Caribbean Investment Conference, he stated that this collaboration is a fundamental part of the Country Brand.

The CHICOS conference takes place at the Hilton hotel, La Romana, on November 10 and 11, where more than 300 investors and hotel operators from around the world meet, in addition to the main tourism authorities in the Caribbean.

This meeting aims to explore the challenges, winning strategies and opportunities of the tourism sector. The conference seeks to look to the future and create a space for the promotion and attraction of new investments in the region.

Strengthening tourism investment in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean is the focus of this conference, where opportunities, incentives and the future of the sector will be worked on together.

“This year comes to our country with the best proposals to open spaces for dialogue and communication between the different investors and tour operators in the world, who find in the Dominican Republic a country that offers them the best opportunities to develop their ideas within the thriving national tourism industry, which is a global example of resilience, economic growth and development” highlighted Abinader.

The head of state affirmed that the legal certainty offered by the country is also one of the elements for which many investors place all their trust in the Dominican Republic when it comes to investing.

In addition, he said, the bet that has been made to promote and ensure a permanent collaboration between the State and the productive and economic sectors of the country, through the public-private partnership, is of vital importance for growth and development.

These public-private alliances, he considered, are being able to assume many of the plans and projects of the Dominican State that had been stalled for years for different reasons for their execution.

“Now, with a shared vision of the future of the Dominican Republic, we are guaranteeing a country with significant economic growth, with decent jobs and a fair redistribution of our wealth, whose objective is to reach all Dominican households, families and every citizen,” Abinader said.

The president maintained that for all these reasons he has endeavored to ensure all the paths so that the change towards a prosperous future in this post-pandemic era becomes a reality, with a spirit of work in favor of the growth and stability of the Dominican Republic.

“The theme of the Conference, “Resilience, Creating Opportunities from Challenges”, is the perfect summary of the situation in which the Dominican Republic finds itself after having overcome adversity after years of unrest due to the pandemic” , he highlighted.

Abinader motivated those present to feel part of the future that they are building together and of this Dominican Republic of progress, growth and development that awaits them.

“Turn your work and your investments in our country into the best example for the rest of the world. Our country embraces you. Make yourself at home,” he concluded.
