Santo Domingo airport presents delays after FAA computer failure

The International Airport of the Americas (AILA), registered this Wednesday delays in the departure and arrival of flights to and from the United States, after the system the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), for its acronym in English) of the United States will fail momentarily.
According to the company Aeropuertos Dominicanos XXI (Aerodom), although there have not yet been any flight cancellations at that airport terminal, there have been notable delays.
Regarding the situation of the flights through the Terminal de las Américas, José Francisco Peña Gómez, Luis López, the company’s Communications Director, explained that no flight cancellations have yet occurred due to AILA, but there have been numerous delays the different American airlines that operate to and from North American territory.
Failure in the FAA
The failure in the system that provides essential information to personnel related to flight operations and that warns in real time of an abnormal state in the US aerospace system.
The situation has caused this Wednesday that passengers who had planned to travel to cities in the United States, have been stranded between one and two hours due to the situation of delays in the departure of their flight.
Among the airlines that operate commercial flights to and from the Dominican Republic to US cities are American Airlines, Delta, United Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines and others.
