Qatar and the Dominican Republic negotiate an air travel agreement
The Dominican Republic and the Sovereign Arab State of Qatar entered into negotiations to promote the development of commercial aviation between both nations.
This was announced by the deputy director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, who said that, for that purpose, he held a meeting with the charge d’affaires of the Qatari embassy in the country, Mr. Yasser Al-Abdulla.
Porcella said that a bilateral Dominican Republic-Qatar air travel agreement would contribute considerably to the further development of tourism in the country.
“We agreed to join forces so that Qatar Airlines operates flights to the Dominican Republic, taking advantage of the facilities offered by the country”, said the deputy director of IDAC.
Mr. Héctor Porcella added that, with the air agreement, there will be important benefits, not only for commercial aviation but also in the development of tourism.
He indicated that it is the interest of the government, through the IDAC, to increasingly strengthen both tourism and commercial aviation with the nations of the different continents of the world.
Currently, the Dominican Republic has more than 80 bilateral air agreements and the country has been classified by various organizations as one of those with the best security standards and airport structures.
