Punta Bergantín megaproject relaunches tourism in Puerto Plata

The Government seeks to relaunch tourism in Puerto Plata for the second time, and for this it has designed Punta Bergantín, a megaproject that will bring together the hotel, real estate, technology, golf course and film areas, which will be developed in three stages, the first It will start this 2023.
To this end, President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and Samuel Pereyra, administrator of Banreservas, presented the master plan to dozens of developers and investors in the sector, during an activity at a hotel in Santo Domingo.
The first phase of Punta Bergantín involves five hotel lots, which will include up to 4,000 rooms in seven-story buildings. The first hotel project will be developed by the Banreservas investment portfolio.
In the second stage, an 18-hole golf course will be developed, while the third stage will cover the real estate part.
For the innovation area, Abinader has indicated that there are companies that have agreed to settle in the area, as well as local and foreign universities.
Regarding hotel development, the head of state said that it is focused on attracting North American tourists, and regarding real estate development, this will be slower.
And about the One Race Films cinematographic center, Vin Diesel every so often asks when the study begins, according to Abinader. The work is synchronized with the Autopista del Ámbar, which, according to the president, will connect Santiago with Puerto Plata in about 30 minutes.
Punta Bergantín will be built on land that is part of 9.6 million square meters acquired in 2021 by Banreservas, a bank that will give credit support to interested investors, according to Pereyra.
