Meliá Hotels begins vaccination of their employees in Punta Cana
Meliá Hotels International began to vaccinate its employees in Punta Cana, in a process coordinated with the Public Health Department within the framework of its strategy of prioritizing the tourism sector.
“The vaccination of all our collaborators in a key destination such as Punta Cana fills us with satisfaction because it represents a crucial advance for the safety and health of our customers and employees, as well as thinking about the destinations”, said Gabriel Escarrer, executive vicepresident and CEO of Meliá.
Escarrer added that the mass vaccination of the Meliá employees “will definitely contribute to anticipating the recovery of international trips to Punta Cana, intensifying the upward curve of tourist demand, which we are already checking in our clients searches and reservations”.
The Meliá Hotels are among the first to take advantage of the government’s vaccination plan, to support the hospitality industry’s effort to promote the country as a fully safe destination and host millions of travelers.
At the Paradisus Palma Real hotel facilities, 370 workers of the group got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, in a journey that is expected to reach up to 800 vaccines a day and ending on May 5th.
We are among the first companies to take advantage of the vaccination plan for the #travelindustry approved by the #DominicanRepublic Government and we have already started the vaccination of our 2,200 associates in the country. #StaySafeWithMelia > https://t.co/b9tSV9SpvL pic.twitter.com/qo67GyU9Fz

On May 25th, the second and final dose of the vaccine is scheduled – supplied by Sinnovac-, after which all of the 2,200 Group employees at the destination are expected to get immunized.
According to a statement from the tourist group, the vaccination journey is held at a large common area of the hotel, following all the standards of the Stay Safe With Meliá program, certified by Bureau Veritas.
During the process, entities of the region such as Cestur (tourist police), the Provincial Directorate of Health, the State Epidemiology Service, and the Ministry of Tourism were present and offering their support, who congratulated the hotel and the Meliá corporate team for the quality of the protocols, as well as the efficiency in the planning and organization of the entire process.
