Dominican south region expects major tourist complex in two and a half years
Pedernales. – The President of the Republic Luis Abinader assured the three thousand room tourist complex that the Government is planning to build in Pedernales will be ready in two and a half years if works on the project begin immediately.
“Many people, as is normal in a democracy, critics of any action that the Government does say: ‘well, but now there is no tourism’, but these are the times when we have to act because if work hard now, this project it will be in two and a half years”, said the president.
Similarly, during his stay in Pedernales, a survey was carried out on the availability of some of the tourist areas and beaches in the area, to determine which ones fall under the category of protected areas.
Abinader informed that plans with the designs for the creation of a tourist point in the place were already in motion, commissioned by the past Government, but these will be modified to accommodate the objectives of the current administration.
“With what money will it be built?”, he was asked, to which he replied that the State will be financially “creative”, and said that the main thing is to have a plan drawn up for the development of the infrastructure.
The Head of State said that they will look for business people that can manage the hotels.
In case they do not find adequate support in the private sector, he said that a trust will be created so that the State can start construction, noting that it will be carried out with the necessary transparency and that later “companies and funds will come that will acquire those Hotels”.
Likewise, Abinader highlighted the difficulty for an investor to place their capital for the construction of a hotel complex in a locality, if there is no airport there.
Therefore, the government also supports the development of an international airport.
