Consular Corps calls up local and foreign investors to health congress
The Dean of the Consular Corps and ex-President of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Caribbean (CHTA), Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, called national and foreign investors to join the 4th International Health and Wellness Congress in Santo Domingo.
Several of the accredited consuls in the country are attending, to what is labeled as the main event of the industry in Central America and the Caribbean.
The accredited Consular Corps in the Dominican Republic reassured their commitment to participating at the main event of the industry, scheduled on September 5-7th, 2018, at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel and Casino.
“The congress offers components of multisectoral integration, innovation, and business development, constituting a platform to strengthen the country brand,” he stated.
Enrique de Marchena recalled that the Dominican Health Tourism Association signed an inter-institutional agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and separately with the Consular Corps, to internationalize the Caribbean island medicine and promote foreign direct investment.
Both agreements seek to improve the transfer of technology and knowledge, as well as the creation of jobs and the development of new projects for the benefit of all Dominicans and the medical travelers.
De Marchena said that the members of the Consular Corps promote in their represented countries the services offered by the Dominican Republic as a tourist destination, health, and investment, recognizing as a great step the completion of the Medical Tourism congress.

By virtue of the agreement, the embassies, consulates, and commercial offices abroad will support the activities conducted by the Dominican Health Tourism Association.
Also, hand out the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Destination Guide, with the purpose of providing information about “the medical advances and the updates of the health and wellness services, to favor tourists so that they have access to truthful information”, explained Minister Miguel Vargas at the sign-up, on October of 2017.
Meanwhile, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso and Amelia Reyes Mora, President and Vice President of the ADTS, reported that the event seeks to encourage public, local and international private partnerships.
For ADTS, the idea is to make the Dominican Republic an attractive destination for Medical Tourism and Wellness and in turn motivate people to come from retirement, which adds value to the destination.
The experts said that 40 local and international speakers would participate at the meeting, a stage to show the world the talent and the advances of the country in the health, tourism, financial and free zones of medical devices sectors.

Enrique De Marchena Kaluche practice is focused on foreign investment, corporate and business law, real estate, tourism, and government relations.
The tourism leader has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores) since 1998, and once his president; Honorary Consul to Jamaica in the Dominican Republic since 1994; and Honorary Professor of the Hotel Administration Faculty at UCE (Central East University).
On April 2017, the accredited Consular Corps in the Dominican Republic elected Enrique De Marchena Kaluche as his new dean.
Enrique De Marchena Kaluche is President of DMK Lawyers, one of the three main regional law firms in Central America with a presence in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
He is the second Dominican to reach the presidency of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA).
The expert was also Central Law’s Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2012-2014 and also serves as an Academician of the Dominican Academy of Gastronomy.

Before becoming the Dean of the Consular Corps, Enrique de Marchena has already shown his support as he was a featured panelist at the 3rd International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, held on September 06′.
He joined Dr. Leonel Melo Guerrero, President of OMG; Manuel Luna, President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo; and Dr. José B. Pérez Gómez Dean, Faculty of Law, Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe).
Dr. Jorge Subero Isa, former President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Dominican Republic, acted as a moderator of the event.
