Bars and restaurants owners freed from power payment until 2021
Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced that the owners of bars and restaurants will not pay for the power bill until the month of January because of COVID-19.
Collado reported that after reaching an agreement with the administrator of the power company Edesur, Milton Morrison, the owners of these businesses will have a credit and also financing.
“What they are going to do is not charge the power, which is a fixed charge and it will be financed as of January as well and they will be given a credit. All this through Asonahores with Edesur and is authorized by the President of the Republic”, explained the minister to the media.
He also informed that the recovery plan for tourism in the Dominican Republic begins on September 15th, with the fulfillment of new measures in airports and hotels.
As Collado explained, airports will do random tests on arriving tourists, but they must have a computerized thermometer with a screen, a measure that will also apply to hotels.
Likewise, he indicated that all airports must have corresponding signs to maintain social distancing.
When questioned about why not all tourists entering the country will be tested, Collado said that “testing all visitors arriving in the Dominican Republic requires 25 minutes per passenger, that can delay a flight for about five hours, but also the World Health Organization is opposed to testing all people because there is a shortage of tools throughout the world”.
