“El closet” (The closet), written and directed by Miguel Vásquez, won two awards this Saturday at the fourth edition of the International Film Festival of America (FICAH).
The Dominican film, which competed in the official section of the festival called “Continental Panorama of Fiction Feature Films”, won the awards for Best Screenplay (Miguel Vásquez) and Best Actor for Anthony Álvarez.
“The Closet” is Vásquez’s fourth feature film, and it tells the story of a Catholic priest who is trapped inside the closet of a house and seeks a way out by coming to help people from different sectors of society.
The FICAH, a film show that takes place in Hidalgo, Mexico, was held from August 26 to 29 virtually through www.filminlatino.mx with the participation of films from different countries of the American continent such as Argentina, Panama, Colombia and Brazil, Mexico, among others.
The main objectives of this exhibition are to promote and promote the production, completion, and exhibition of cinematographic works, mainly from the American continent and the region.
With these two new awards, the film adds a total of seven international awards, in addition to the distinction of having been an official selection at festivals in Poland, Israel, Brazil, and the United States.
