Air Canada declares the Dominican Republic as a priority destination
The airline Air Canada is preparing to resume its flights to the Dominican Republic, one of the first countries in the Caribbean to return after the strong restrictions within the region.
According to the company authorities, the nation is a “priority destination” in this “new normal” framework.
This week, the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Canada, Michelle Cohen, launched a round of working meetings with the airlines of the North American country, to coordinate efforts for a quick and safe return to the Caribbean destination.
As reported by the Dominican Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), Cohen’s first appointment took place virtually and was with two important Air Canada executives: the vice president of Product Development, Dina Bertolo; and the head of business, Daniela Mauro.
According to the chronicle of the meeting, the executives congratulated the Dominican government for the management of the health and tourism crisis, and also for the way in which they conduct the international reopening.
“The Dominican Republic is among our priority destinations,” they emphasized, and highlighted the interest of Canadians in Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, and Samaná, among other vacation spots.
And what does that mean? They explained that Air Canada designed a five-year plan for the Dominican market.
The company confirmed that the return of the flights will take place on June 26th, and stressed that the tickets are already available in the system.
Finally, Air Canada highlighted the fact that the Dominican Republic has been one of the first destinations announced by the airline in its de-escalation.
