DR ranks seventh in America with the most vaccinated against COVID-19

The Dominican Republic ranks seventh in America and 30 in the world with the highest percentage of its population fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to data from the “Our World in Data” portal.
By June 17, the Dominican Republic (21.5%) was preceded in America, Chile, with 48.3% vaccinated, the United States (44.4%), Uruguay (38.2%), Antigua and Barbuda (24.8%), Dominica (24.8 %), Barbados (22.1%) and (21.5%) according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health.
To date, 6.8 million vaccines have been administered in the Dominican Republic, including 2.4 million citizens who have already received both doses, while another 4.4 million inhabitants have only received the first injection.
Authorities hope to reach 3 million with both doses and 7 million with the first this week.
The Ministry of Public Health notified this past Saturday 1,784 new infections and 12 more deaths from covid-19.
