The Dominican Republic will celebrate the second edition of the Dominican Chocolate Festival 2022, to educate and sensitize economic agents about chocolate made in the country.
From July 8th to 17th, 2022, the event, to be held at Ágora Mall, will offer demonstrations, pairings, talks, tours and other activities, with the purpose of continuing to raise awareness about the value of chocolate and cocoa, a country-brand product.
The more than 25 activities will be carried out in virtual and face-to-face format, with the participation of local and international experts.
Currently the country exports 70,000 tons of cocoa annually, of which 45% corresponds to organic cocoa, which makes the country the main exporter of this type of cocoa worldwide and included within the select group of fine cocoa producing countries. and aroma recognized by the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO).
Likewise, Dominican chocolate is being recognized in international competitions such as the Academy of Chocolate in London and the International Chocolate Awards “Americas”.
The cultural event promotes a direct connection between the consumer and the chocolate maker or cocoa producer.
“It is important to note that with the rise of new artisan chocolate makers in recent years, the interest in fine chocolate in the country is gaining more and more attention,” the organizing team said in a press statement.
