Russia resumes flights to the Dominican Republic
Russia resumes flights to the Dominican Republic, Bahrain and Moldova suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reported its operational center for the fight against the disease.
The decision was made at a meeting of the operational center against the coronavirus chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Gólikova, according to Sputnik Mundo.
Bahrain, on the Moscow-Manama route, with a frequency of two weekly flights; the Dominican Republic, on the routes Moscow-Punta Cana, Moscow-La Romana, Moscow-Puerto Plata, with the total frequency of three weekly flights; Moldova, on the Moscow-Chisinau route, with a frequency of three weekly flights”, the statement said.
It was also agreed that as of August 9th, the frequency of flights with the Syrian capital, Damascus, will increase from one to three a week; and with the Egyptian cities of Hurghada and Sharm el-sheik, popular destinations for Russian tourists, three to five a week on each route.
The center reiterated its recommendation to Russian citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before traveling abroad.
Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado celebrated the news with a comment on Twitter.
“The good news for the reactivation of our tourism continues with the resumption of flights from Russia to the Dominican Republic, starting on August 9th. One more example of the trust that our country generates worldwide”, said Collado.
