Grupo Rescue unveils Dr. Carlos Burroughs surgery room in Puerto Plata
Dr. Carlos Burroughs Surgery Room was unveiled by Grupo Rescue at their Bournigal Medical Center (CMBO) in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
The opening ceremony was led by Mgr. Julio César Corniel Amaro, Bishop of the Diocese of Puerto Plata. He was followed by Dr. José Natalio Redondo, who highlighted the life and work of Dr. Carlos Burroughs, an MD that distinguishes the new operational pavilion of the medical center.
Dr. José Natalio Redondo, President of the Grupo Rescue, praised the premises and acknowledged that the surgery room is part of a new stage that complements the services that the Bournigal Medical Center has been providing for more than 40 years.
Moreover, Greisy Concepción, CEO of Grupo Rescue, valued the work carried out by the collaborators who were in charge of the construction and start-up of the new surgical area.
“The surgery room renews our commitment to continue offering a reliable and guaranteed health service to the community of Puerto Plata, the Dominican Republic, and beyond borders,” she stated.

Named in honor of the well-known otolaryngologist, Dr. Carlos Burroughs Surgery Room is part of comprehensive high-quality health service from Grupo Rescue.

In an Instagram post on @centromedicobournigal, Dr. Luis Redondo provided more information about the operating room.
“We are in one of the most modern surgery rooms of the country, which complies with all the requirements of the Dominican health system, and surpasses them in some cases, as well as international standards from the United States and Canada,” said Dr. Luis Eduardo Redondo, a plastic surgeon at CMBO.
He added that “it was created to provide the highest safety for the patient and the doctors. We focused greatly on the prevention of any kind of infection.”
Dr. Luis Redondo emphasized that Dr. Carlos Burroughs Surgery Room floors ” were designed to repel bacteria. When bacteria drop, from the normal liquids from any type of surgery, these do not stick to the floor. There is no space on the floor where bacteria or any type of microorganism can get stuck.”
