Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hits his MLB-leading 20th homer of the season
Dominican first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his 20th homer of the season and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 7-2.
Guerrero Jr, with his 20 home runs so far in the championship, has established himself as the major league home run leader.
The Dominican now surpasses his closest supporters by two homers, his compatriot, shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., of the San Diego Padres (19), and Venezuelan Ronald Acuña Jr., of the Atlanta Braves (18).
Guerrero Jr. sent the ball to the fairway in the first inning leading a runner ahead.
The Dominican found the baseball of the starter Nick Pivetta, and took it out with a 134-meter blow to the top of the center field.
The victory was credited to starter Steven Matz (7-3) in 5 2/3 innings.
For the Red Sox, Pivetta (6-2) took the five-round job loss.
