MLBPA opens first international office in the Dominican Republic

The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) announced the opening of its first international office in this capital with the mission of increasing the support it provides to players during and after their careers in the majors.

“We are happy to further expand our international presence here in the Dominican Republic,” said MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark.

“Our game is made better by the diversity of our baseball fraternity. The office demonstrates our steadfast commitment to continue to advance and protect the rights of all international baseball players”.

More than 1,200 players, including a growing number of international players, play Major League Baseball under the umbrella of the MLBPA, which recently assumed representation for Minor League players, increasing the current membership to more than 5,000 players.

The office is located in Torre Sarasota in the city of Santo Domingo.
