Fernando Tatis Jr. suffers season-ending partial shoulder dislocation
Fernando Tatis Jr. left the game Monday night against the Giants after striking out in the bottom of the third inning and falling to the ground in pain.
The team announced that the Dominican suffered a partial dislocation in his left shoulder and will be examined again by doctors.
Other sources have confirmed the injury and say it requires surgery to repair the labrum and a recovery of 4-6 months, ending the superstar season.
Tatis Jr. swung big off a slow pitch by Giants starter Anthony DeSclafani to deliver the second out of the inning. By the force and inertia of the swing itself, the bat seemed to hit him in the back of his left shoulder.

Tatis immediately dropped the stake and fell to the ground, obviously in pain.
Manager Jayce Tingler and a trainer came out to check on Tatis, who kept her left arm close to her body. He left the field and immediately went through the tunnel to the clubhouse, accompanied by the trainer.
Tatis exited a game during Spring Training due to pain in his left shoulder. But the Padres said the injury was minor and Tatis returned to the lineup two days later. It is not clear whether the two injuries are related.
Tatis is off to a slow start this 2021 season, hitting just .167 and five errors in five games.
Ha-Seong Kim replaced Tatis in the shortstop at the top of the room.
Tatis just signed a record 14-year, $ 340 million contract extension. He is the central figure of the Padres’ resurgence and perhaps the face of all of baseball.
