Urban music superstar El Alfa released his new song “Trappea” on Wednesday, a collaboration with the American rapper Tyga with which he establishes himself as the most international Dominican urban artist of the moment.
“It is a subject with which we are going to break it. We have worked a lot on it. Just squaring the video took more than a month, but this represents another step in a career in which I have been working for more than 13 years,” he said. to Efe the artist, who for work reasons lives between Santo Domingo and Miami.
“Trappea” is a fusion of reggaeton and trap that represents El Alfa’s third collaboration with an artist from the urban movement in English.
First, it was “Qué calor”, with Major Lazer and J Balvin, to later present this year “Coronao”, with Lil ´Pump, and “No Mañana”, his work with Black Eye Peas which is part of “Translation”, the most recent album by the iconic American band.
The intense 2020 work of the artist was also consummated by being one of the presenters of the Premios Juventud last week.
“I hope that everything I have achieved this year helps to promote the artists of my country. We have a lot of talent in all genres, although in the urban area more diffusion is needed,” said the musician.
That, despite the fact that for El Alfa, reggaeton is also part of the Dominican cultural heritage.
“The genre was born in Panama and Puerto Rico, but we combine it in a different way. We have our own style,” he said.
That style that the singer speaks of is the one that dominates “Trappea”, in which the artists sing in English and Spanish on a catchy track and under a fast and energetic dembow.
The song was accompanied by a colorful video directed by the Dominican director Rodrigo Rodríguez, who with his company Rodrigo Films has worked with artists such as Bad Bunny, Arcángel, Belinda, Natti Natasha, Nicky Jam, Rauw Alejandro, Myke Towers, Cazzu, Farruko, among others.
In the production, El Alfa and Tyga sing from colorful stages that are alternated with images of women dancing.
“Trappea” is Tyga’s latest collaboration with Latino artists.
The Californian artist has songs with J Balvin, Jon Z, and Ozuna.
