Hotel Association of Santo Domingo and ADTS sign medical travel agreement
The Hotel Association of Santo Domingo and the Dominican Health Tourism Association signed an interinstitutional agreement for the promotion and development of Medical Travel in Santo Domingo.
According to a press release sent to DoHealthWell®, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso and Roberto Henríquez, presidents of ADTS and AHSD, respectively, led the signup at the Radisson Hotel Santo Domingo on July 31st.
At the meeting, the executives stated that the agreement establishes relations of cooperation between the parties, in the effort to promote health tourism and host congresses and conventions of the health sector and related areas at the city of Santo Domingo.
Among the actions within the agreement, it highlights the standardization of hotel facilities based on criteria that favor those with some type of disability and training the staff to serve medical travelers.

The Hotel Association of Santo Domingo (AHSD) and the Association Dominican Health Tourism (ADTS), signed an inter-institutional agreement for the promotion and development of health tourism, as well as congresses and health sector conventions in the city of Santo Domingo.
The signing of the agreement was made at the Radisson Hotel Santo Domingo on Tuesday, July 31st, a meeting led by the representatives of both organizations, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism and Roberto Henríquez, President of the Hotel Association of Santo Domingo.
During the signing, the executives stated that with this agreement they establish relations of cooperation between the parties, to promote health tourism and initiatives to celebrate congresses and conventions in the health industry and related areas, in the city of Santo Domingo.
Among the actions that define the agreement highlights the standardization of hotel facilities based on criteria that favor the accessibility of people with some type of disability, and staff training to welcome health tourists.
Roberto Henríquez pointed out the importance of diversifying the tourist portfolio and taking actions that allow us to continue growing and position the city of Santo Domingo
as a destination for health tourism, incentive groups, and conventions in the segments
doctors, pharmacists, and technology.
“Through this agreement with the Dominican Association of Health Tourism, we will promote training and new tourism packages that include treatments, recovery, and stay for health tourists and their companions,” said the hotel expert.
On the other hand, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso said that we can not ignore the natural relationship between health and tourism, so to establish joint actions that strengthen the security of the destination and the promotion of healthy practices are objectives aligned with the national development strategy.
“We are working to promote compliance with local regulations and better international practices, promoting tourism of health and ethical well-being, competitive and of high quality, that favors the accessibility of people with some kind of disability,” said Dr. Cambiaso at the gathering.
Hotel Association of Santo Domingo: its role
The Hotel Association of Santo Domingo will broadcast the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Destination Guide, in order to attract and guide potential health tourists about the process of receiving care of health and recovery in the Dominican Republic.
The signing of this agreement will motivate the participation and support to the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, organized by the Dominican Health Tourism Association and AF Comunicación Estratégica, to be held on September 5-7th, 2018, at the Hotel Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.
