War in Ukraine encourages negotiations with the Dominican Republic
In addition to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the inflation generated by the war between Russia and Ukraine has affected the hardware and construction sector, both the consumer and the distributor, however, it has motivated other countries to negotiate with the Dominican Republic.
This was announced by the manager of the Expo-Ferretera, Ana Ventura, who is in charge of the development of the fair that takes place in the Dominican Fiesta hotel in this capital with the aim of boosting the sector, exchanging business with other countries together with local importing distributors.
She said that during “the pandemic there were shortages of raw materials and now with the war in Ukraine we have to be affected by what is built in European countries.”
However, she stressed that the scarcity has encouraged other countries that have “manufacturing quality and are competitive” to go to the Dominican Republic to do business, such as Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.
“There are situations that affect one sector, but can favor others. The fact of reopening this event has allowed companies to seek new business alternatives despite the crisis and price increases, “she said.
She stressed that at the fair the different national and international exhibitors “have special prices for hardware stores and distributors” who come to purchase some products of interest to their company. She pointed out that the specials are competitive.
Ventura pointed out that despite the incidence of the pandemic, the hardware sector was not “so affected” because the confinement motivated many households to repair “household items” that were pending, in some cases.
However, among the negative aspects was that it prevented the fair from being held, affecting human contact with citizens in the event that was not held due to the presence of the disease.
Likewise, she pointed out that the event exceeded her expectations because yesterday they received at least 500 people who closed “important businesses.”
During the course of the day they will be receiving hardware stores from some provinces of the country.
