Central Romana pays employees more than 1 billion in bonuses
The Central Romana company made a historic payment of more than 1 billion Dominican pesos as a bonus for workers and employees for the recently completed 2020-2021 sugar harvest.
This amount, the highest sum delivered by the company in bonuses, exceeds by more than RD 47 million pesos the amount paid last year under this same concept.
“The payment of this bonus is part of the Collective Pact agreed with the United Workers’ Union, whose mutually agreed labor relations date back more than 55 years, for the benefit of all our employees and workers,” the company detailed in a press release.
The Central Romana mill recently announced the results of its production, which reached 396,288 short tons of sugar after milling of more than 3 million 358 thousand short tons of sugar cane.
It also produced 162 thousand short tons of refined sugar and more than 21 million gallons of molasses, according to the company in a statement to the press.
The company, which is based in La Romana, has a high socio-economic impact on the communities in the eastern region of the country.
