Shooting of evangelical marriage by the Police shocks the DR
The National Police announced the suspension of several agents involved in an incident where a married couple of evangelicals lost their lives and another person was injured in the Villa Altagracia municipality, in the San Cristóbal province.
Along with this couple, who had left a cult of the “Iglesia Misionera Esperando a Cristo”, from Villa Mella, which has a chapel in Los Ganchos, San Cristóbal province and was heading to Santo Domingo, were traveling Claudio Alberto Ramírez, pastor and a preacher from the religious center, wounded in the back, and Carlos Pérez, who miraculously saved their lives, and were dispatched from the Villa Altagracia National Police Detachment, after being questioned.
In Villa Altagracia, they demand that the situation in which both died be established.
The Public Ministry announced that it will request a year of preventive detention against the agents involved in the homicide and that the case be declared complex.
In a press release, the law enforcement institution stressed that it “will not tolerate” its agents “any action” that violates the norms and laws of the Dominican Republic.
“… if, as a result of the investigation, those named are responsible, they will be placed at the disposal of the ordinary courts so that they can answer for the fact that they are accused of,” he said.
Second Lieutenant Victorino Navarro, Sergeant Domingo Perdomo Reyes, corporals Norquis Rodríguez Jiménez and Ángel de los Santos, and privates Antonio Castro Pérez and Juan Samuel Ogando Solís, who were part of the Police, are being singled out for the shooting.
The police officers will be investigated by the General Inspectorate and Internal Affairs of the National Police, together with the Public Ministry.
