Public Ministry launches Operation Medusa; accuses former Attorney General
The Office of the Special Prosecutor for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca) launched Operation Medusa, which accuses the former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, and employees under his management of various crimes.
As part of the operation, the authorities carried out multiple raids, during which they arrested Miguel José Moya, who served as an advisor to the Attorney General’s Office during the administration of Jean Alain Rodríguez.
In addition, Rafael Antonio Mercedes Marte, who served as head of the Accounting Department of the Attorney General’s Office, was arrested.
The seizures included the arrest of Altagracia Guillén Calzado, who served as administrative deputy director of the Attorney General’s Office, and Javier Alejandro Forteza Ibarra, who held the position of director of Information Technology of the institution.
Operation Medusa, led by deputy prosecutors Yeni Berenice Reynoso and Wilson Camacho, from the General Directorate of Persecution of the Public Ministry and Pepca, included at least 38 raids on Monday in the National District, La Vega, and La Romana.
Jean Alain Rodríguez, Rafael Canó, Jonathan Rodríguez, Miguel José Moya, Rafael Antonio Mercede Marte, Altagracia Guillén Calzado, and Javier Alejandro Forteza, among others, are charged with crimes of association of criminals, fraud against the State, bribery, coalition of officials, falsification of public documents, identity theft, electronic crimes, and money laundering.
The Public Ministry has led the investigation process for several months, in which it has carried out multiple investigative proceedings on the illegal actions of this group.
The arrested defendants were transferred to the preventive prison located in the Palace of Justice in Ciudad Nueva.
